FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I get a Personal Trainer?

Personal Training offers an individualized and specialized plan that targets your goals and caters to what your body needs. Working with a trainer ensures effective and efficient workouts with maximum benefits in a minimal amount of time. You will learn about your body’s areas of strength and weakness while being provided with a plan to fix your limitations and enhance your capabilities.

When should I get a Personal Trainer?

Before winter starts, when spring kicks off, when you want to get more fit, when you’re already fit, when you’ve injured yourself, when you want to avoid injuring yourself, when your jeans don’t fit, when your knees hurt, when you want to bike all day, when you want to dance all night, WHENEVER!

How often will I meet with my Trainer?

We recommend working out with your trainer 2 to 3 times per week for maximum benefit. Depending on goals, we sometimes recommend 1 time per week, for example during rehabilitation from an injury or with a maintenance follow-ups after completing a larger training package.

I’m outside or on the mountain everyday… Do I really need to be in the gym?

But of course! The amazing activities we get to do on the mountain are only one aspect of fitness. Often, our beloved activities leave us with troublesome muscular imbalances, sore joints and poor movement patterns that can harm us in the long run. An appropriately applied strength and mobility program can not only eliminate the imbalances in the body but allow us to do our favourite activities for years to come.

Do I have to workout on my own?

Yes. Your trainer will give you appropriate homework based on your goals and capabilities.  Some exercises will need to be completed at home while others may require the gym, again depending on goals. Remember that consistency is key to obtaining results so follow your trainer’s recommendations.

Isn’t personal training a luxury service?

Absolutely not! We have many clients from all walks of life who make their fitness and wellness a priority and therefore will invest in our services to improve their quality of life.

How long are the sessions?

The sessions are an hour but longer sessions can be scheduled if you and your trainer are goal setting or discussing nutrition. Longer workout sessions can also be scheduled for an added cost.

How many sessions should I buy?

This entirely depends on your goals, your time availability and your finances. We’ve trained clients from 6 sessions up to 160+ sessions. Your optimal package will be determined between you and your trainer during your initial consult.

I’m recovering from an injury… Can I train with you?

Of course! Meaghan, Makenzi and Kait all have degrees in Kinesiology which gives them extensive understandings of rehabilitation. We will work with your Physiotherapist to provide an all-encompassing rehab program that will get you back on the mountain in no time.

How do I know Personal Training is right for me?

An initial consultation will be scheduled to determine your past exercise history, current fitness level and exercise regime, and to determine your goals going forward. At this time, you and your trainer will discuss scheduling options as well as finances to ensure you’re a proper fit for the Personal Training Program.

What if I can’t make it to a session?

We ask that you provide 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel a session. If a session is able to be rescheduled within the next 48 hours, there will be no charge for said session. If there is less than 24 hours notice or you are unable to reschedule within 48 hours, the cost of the session will be forfeited.

Do I need a gym membership?

No, you do not need a membership. We offer pricing that includes a drop-in fee for Meadow Park so that you do not have to purchase your own. We also offer in-home training for those who have equipment and also outdoor training under certain circumstances.

What happens during a typical session?

You will warm-up prior to your session start time on a cardio machine of your choice or with an individualized dynamic warm-up provided by your trainer. Following that you will complete any mobility work your trainer has given you to prepare you for your workout. Once the session commences, your trainer will complete any further warm-ups that are specialized to that day’s workout. Then it’s time to kick butt! We will complete the strengthening portion of the sessions, which may be a full body program or broken down into split days.  At the end, your trainer will tell you if there’s any further work you need to complete that day or the following days until your next session. You’re encouraged to stretch and foam roll after the session to aid in your recovery.

Do I need to be fit before I get started?

Certainly not. You don’t need to lose weight or improve your cardio before starting a training program. (This is something we hear often but it’s simply not true!) Beginning a properly administered strength and conditioning program will help you on your fitness journey regardless of where you’re starting from and where you want to go.

Can I be ‘too fit’ for Personal Training?

Never! There’s always what we like to call “opportunities for improvement” when it comes to the human physique and performance. We’re only as strong as our weakest link. Your trainer will help identify areas of weakness and restriction in your body and then implement a plan to improve them. All top level athletes have a trainer to continually progress them further in their sport so why would a weekend warrior be any different?

Do Personal Training packages ever expire?

Packages of less than 6 personal training sessions must be used within 60 days of the purchase date.  Packages of 6 to 29 sessions must be used within 6 months of purchase date. Packages of 30 or more sessions must be completed within a year. Any unused sessions after these expiry dates will be cancelled, and partial refunds will not be provided.

Can I get a refund for my sessions if I am not going to use them?

No, we do not offer refunds. Alternatively, you can share the love with a friend or family member that would like to finish the package if you are unable to.
